Introduction Concepts:
Diaspora is a Science Fiction/post-Cyberpunk series featuring tales from often-marginalized people. In concept, the series is similar to the great ‘Trail’ stories of the American mid-west except that the end points are different planets set in the near-future five centuries of Earth from 2150ACE to 2650ACE. These stories feature POV characters in these new worlds living their ordinary lives. In many other aspects, these stories are as much about the possible exoPlanet Colonies as conceived by the author, as it is about people living on them.
Series Blurb:
Humanity has spread beyond the planet Earth, into the solar system and beyond to the Seeded Worlds. They call these movements ‘Diaspora’ and it began with the Twenty Second Century Ecliptic Emigrant Trail through the Solar System. Initially the Trail lead only to Luna and Mars, but the ever-harsher conditions on Earth pushed to the Giant Planets and their moons; and then beyond to other Star Systems. In all these places where Humanity has placed new footprints, ordinary people live ordinary lives.
‘Diaspora’ is a chronicle of these people; fresh tales from places that do not yet exist. The Earth broils, abandoned, within the Holocene Thermal Maximum; but elsewhere human beings, trans-human beings, synthetic beings, and Artificial Intelligence struggle with the mundane pursuits of surviving and thriving. The ‘Diaspora’ are these people’s stories, where-ever they may be.
